A friend is somebody
Who knows you and likes you Exactly the way that you are. Someone who's special And so close in thought That no distance can ever seem far. A friend understands you Without any words, Stands by you When nothing goes right. And willingly talks Over problems with you Till they somehow Just vanish from sight. And whether you're neighbors Or live miles apart, A word from a friend gives a lift To your heart and spirit. That shows you once more Why friendship is life's dearest gift!

November 22 BACK TO SCHOOLwith the beginning of the week some people have to pack their lunch and head off to the office. So I found an old school for those who want to roam the halls of education.
Overlooking the town atop the hill I guess it could be called a place of higher learning. Maybe these town people had the proper idea of education, obove all.
It would be good exercise for the kids walking up the hill to get to school.
today it is a storage shed for a junker.
EVERYBODY HAVE A GOOD WEEK
November 21 For Want of a Roasting PanIt is Sat and where have the days passed on to. A time to reflect and look back at the week. What did I do? Sometimes as I look backwards the mirror is empty. I see no accomplishments, then I put my glasses on and see glimpses of something done. Not sure what but it looks like I did something. There are dust bunnies a floating abouts, clothes stacked in the hamper, rather dirty looking and other things to clean up. The vacum sits in the corner with a snarl on its snout, oh my goodness, must tame the beast. Yes it is Saturday and the chores of the weekend are stacked up waiting for a soul to take care of them. I ponder where can I find a soul to do my chores. I am not Tom Sawyer, nor am I rich enough for a maid service. So I sit staring at computer screen hoping the dust af a fairy will float down from overhead to take car of the little jobs of the weekend.
They said gobble gobble....Where's the roasting pan?
It appears they were looking for somebody to invite them in for a meal.
Have a good weekend. November 19 A pleasant weekend to AllThrusday is rolling to a close and tomorrow would bring a ball game of sorts. Right now it is between sports, football is over and wrestling and basketball is getting ready. Drive the jalopy to school on Friday to go cruising afterwards, hang out someplace have some sodas and tell tall tales. Seems like a moment ago yet it feels like a century. On to college and the big bonfires and pep rallies, hit the bars, go out to the woods for a woodsie or just go cruising. Later it was get off work, happy hour or go cruising. The automobile has been the focus of so many social moments besides being a status symbol. To crawl behind the wheel, mosey down the avenue, waving at the passers by. There was a feeling no other machine has been able to duplicate. To cruise, was to see and be seen, fast talk, fast cars, slow parades on main.
Not many people crusied in pick ups but in the country it the machine du jour. This classic old ford got a souped up package from the flathead 8. Look at that shine.
Any body up for cruising the drive-in tomorrow night after the game? November 16 Harse puckeys....er road apples.
This is the doorway to the secret entrance of my house, through the looking stump.
Well it is Monday and the week has begun again. I did manage to roll over another leaf. The cold is waning but man was yesterday a dog. I did like the dogs, laid around and groaned. Used some the Jewish mother’s home recipe for colds ate some chicken soup. Don’t know if it worked but it tasted okay going down. I pick up magazines of all types. There are some that hit the trash after the first page. Some are really slick and look good but nothing inside. A couple are pretty good. One is an alternative lifestyle rag that has stories at times of general interest. The one I read yesterday had an article about narcissism and the problems associated with and how it leads to problems. I have been accused of being narcissistic so it caught my attention. They noted how many people today are wrapped up in themselves and others are there to help the self centered egotist look good. Hum, an image problem. They pegged the generation of the 60’s as the beginning and how it has burgeoned since then, the overweight, the materialist, the fancy dresser and talker and the list went on. Materialism is how they measure self, the more stuff the better they feel their image is, what. The lover of self sees most things as objects and that includes people. How many friends can they collect, I know him, I know her and the list grows to look like something. They noted that lots of people on the internet social networks fall into that category. People on the social networks are so in love with themselves they miss the point of relationships. Then if one is a people collector they lose sight of interacting with others. They stated that when someone is so in love with themselves there isn’t much room to love anything else. Narcissism is complex but when I look at the materialism I can see people wrapped up in themselves. They view others as an aid to them or a hindrance. It also explains why there are so many failed marriages, love of self leaves no room for the family, self comes first.
Those of you on the various space networks do feel any of the narcissistic tendencies from others? Biggest thing I see is the large networks. I pare my down at times if there is no interaction. Yet for some to be in the background is there way of socializing. The other thing I see is the collection of gadgets. I saw a bumper sticker that read, “He who dies with the most toys wins,” the materialist’s journey to the coffin. As people collect things they collect people to be used and abused. Watch shoppers how they buy things that will be gone but at the time they satisfy the want to accumulate. It was an awakening story of how we tend to mess up our own lives. I’ve had to rethink my relationships with others over the past few years and this brought that back to the fore front. How do I interact with people? There are so many struggles in life and I ask myself am I helping that person or am I making a mess of things. A few good relationships are better than crowded stadium of onlookers. To be intimate and caring is not easy.
Oh well been cooking beans all day, will divide into portions for different dishes. Chili sounds good, try some rice for burrito’s or baked beans. Mix in some molasses and honey or barbeque. Darn getting hungry. Had some snow this past weekend, started Sat. eve and went thru Sun. night. This morning was clear and blue but cold, high of 45 F. Electricity went out for a time Sat. night. In the country the lines are not buried, they are on utility poles so very susceptible to ice buildup and wind. It was a local circuit that popped. Across the street there was light the other direction was dark. It wasn’t too long because the house had not cooled down much. It bothers me because on a real cold night pipes freeze real easy.
November 14 Passenger TrainBeen pretty droopy most of the day. Caught another cruddy cold and it is not fun. By the time the pills and junk open my sinuses up I can kind of function. Otherwise I droop around the house. Did get some housekeeping done and drank lots of tea.
A passenger train came through today. That got my adrenlin flowing. i chased it down the road a few miles to get a couple of pictures of it. Life goes on no matter my condition.
This is close to a place called Lake Sation. It was a stage stop in the 1860's and the site of some serious Indian attacks. Today it is a ranch and bed
and breakfast.
Well go find some more hot tea with lemon and honey and......
